Flipped Learning Pioneers Honored at 2014 Bammy Awards

Jon Bergmann and Aaron Sams recognized for ‘standout contributions’ to the flipped classroom movement

CHICAGO (Oct. 7, 2014) – Jon Bergmann and Aaron Sams, flipped learning experts and co-founders of FlippedClass.com, were recently acknowledged at the third annual Bammy Awards for their “standout contributions” in helping teachers maximize their time in the classroom. Created to help reverse the negative national narrative that dominates education, the Bammy Awards is a cross-discipline honor that identifies and recognizes the extraordinary work being done across the entire education field every day.

The co-founders of FlippedClass.com, an organization that leads flipped learning training programs around the globe, were recognized at a black-tie, red carpet event in Washington D.C. for paving the way to flipped classrooms. The Academy of Education Arts and Sciences organizes the Bammy Awards.

“It’s an honor to be included in a group that includes Dr. Timothy P. Shriver, Sir Ken Robinson and Rafe Esquith,” said Bergmann.

“Jon and I accept this recognition on behalf of all the educators who are using flipped learning methods to engage students and, ultimately, re-think the way we approach instruction,” said Sams.

FlippedClass.com, the pair’s new venture, brings flipped learning training consultants to schools, districts, states and nations. The organization will also introduce two new flipped learning conferences in 2015: FlipCon Texas and FlipCon Middle East (Dubai). Bergmann and Sams have co-authored two books, Flip Your Classroom: Reach Every Student in Every Class Every Day and Flipped Learning: Gateway to Student Engagement.
